Ah Hum!
Ah Hum! is a proud South Australian Latin band with a global flair. The basic ensemble consists of ten musicians, with guest performers who all enjoy the vibrant rhythms of Afro-Cuban music. This ensemble exemplifies our community's rich ethnic diversity, talent, and goals.

The band leader, Mario Vasquez, creates an extraordinary atmosphere, energising the audience to a state of euphoria and frequently leaping from the stage to teach playful salsa steps. Nanis Rodriguez, the band's lead vocalist, captivates listeners with her remarkably clear and powerful voice, suggesting that she is committed to continually pushing artistic boundaries.
Jose Levya on congas captivates the crowd with his lightning-fast percussive rhythms, while Jorge Gualdron's dynamic and engaging timbales complement Rodrigo Gonzalez's driving bongos and Enne Rignanese's tumbao bass lines, showcasing the enchanting synergy among the musicians.
The impressive Los Metales horn section, featuring Callum Cunningham-Byn on trombone, Charlotte Newhouse on trumpet, and Paolo Guttilla on alto saxophone, enhances the exhilarating atmosphere. Meanwhile, Aidan McDonough on keyboard demonstrates his talent for weaving improvisation, groove, and technical finesse into a unique musical fabric.
Ah Hum! was once a regular feature at midnight performances in Adelaide’s premier nightclub, Casablabla. The diverse global audience dances and sways to the alluring congas and brass sounds of Ah Hum!’s Saturday night extravaganza. Stylish individuals of all ages showcase their dance skills, spinning and embracing the intricate movements of Latin dance. One can easily envision being in a vibrant club in New York City, which encapsulates the essence of what makes Ah Hum! so appealing.
